Erica’s frame is called ‘The Sculptor’, based on a clay maquette. The frame was CNC cut and hand crafted, before being superheated and manipulated by the spectacle maker for the final effect, to recreate the physicality, surface texture, and volume of the original moulded clay model. Finally, it was burnished and polished in multiple stages, giving it the gloss of glazed ceramic.
Erica Toogood is a fashion designer, one half of the studio led by her sister Faye. Studio Toogood’s clothing line is a sculptural, practical, anti-fashion wardrobe. At the centre of every Toogood project is a restless spirit of experimentation, and a joy taken in process and play.
