Cubitts — Daniel Weil

£0 including prescription lenses

Daniel’s frame was inspired by a sixteenth century bespectacled helmet made for Henry VIII. Beginning with this model, Daniel produced reams of drawings, exploring different elements of spectacle form and material juxtapositions. The final product is a circular frame in two parts. A body constructed of crystal acetate, armoured with a polished brass piece hand-pinned to the front. It’s accompanied by a nifty device for hanging your spectacles from a button, or ‘on the wing’.

Daniel Weil is a distinguished designer, known for his contributions to industrial design and architecture. Rising to prominence as part of the Memphis Group in the 1980s, he was a partner at Pentagram for 28 years, working on projects for clients including Coca Cola, Lego, and United Airlines. His work features in the collections of MoMA and the V&A, and was the subject of a Design Museum retrospective.
