Buying prescription glasses online

Your eyes are magnificent feats of biological engineering. Prescription lenses are not just a necessity; they are a means to experience the world in all its detail and beauty. Here’s how you can purchase Cubitts prescription glasses for men and women online.

1. Try on your prescription glasses online:

Our Virtual Try On feature lets you explore a wide range of styles, ensuring you find the perfect shape and colour for your face shape and personal style.

2. Choose your prescription lenses:

All of our prescription glasses come with ZEISS ClearView lenses as standard; choose from reading glasses, or prescription glasses with a 1.5, 1.6, or 1.74 lens index to suit any single vision prescription. For those with varifocal lens needs, visit us at one of our stores.

3. Choose your prescription lens material options:

Prescription lenses can also be customised with coatings to cater to your specific lifestyle and preferences. Choose from light reactive lenses, also known as transition lenses, which turn your glasses into sunglasses when exposed to UV light. Or, blue light lenses which block the blue light from digital screens and the sun, reducing visual fatigue from excessive screen use.

How to read prescriptions for glasses

Understanding your glasses prescription is crucial when selecting the right lenses for your eyewear. Here's how to read your prescription:

Sphere (SPH):

This indicates the lens power needed to correct nearsightedness (-) or farsightedness (+). A negative value (-) indicates nearsightedness, while a positive value (+) signifies farsightedness.

Cylinder (CYL):

This measures the lens power needed to correct astigmatism. If there is no cylinder value, you do not have astigmatism. If you do, the value will be indicated as a negative number.

Axis:

This number defines the angle of astigmatism correction, measured in degrees from 1 to 180.

Add (ADD):

This value is used for multifocal lenses, such as bifocals or progressives, to correct presbyopia, the loss of near vision that typically occurs with age.

Prism and Base:

These values are rare and are used to correct eye alignment issues. If your prescription contains these values, your eye care professional will explain their significance.
