Faye Toogood is a designer and founder of Toogood, which she runs with her sister Erica. Her work is multidisciplinary, spanning sculpture, fashion, and furniture, known for its minimal functional form. Her frame, ‘The Tinker’, is based on a tin foil maquette. The handmade spectacle parts were dipped in liquid acetone and heated, causing the surface layer to bubble and fold, before being treated with a silver-effect coating for a tin foil appearance.

Erica Toogood is a fashion designer, one half of the studio led by her sister Faye. Her frame, ‘The Sculptor’, is based on a clay maquette, incorporating the physicality, surface texture, and volume of moulded clay into the final piece. The frame was CNC cut and hand crafted, before being heated and manipulated by hand for the final effect. A series of polishes give it the gloss of glazed ceramic.

Inspired by an injection moulded bow hair clip, her design is constructed of laminated acetates—translucent Tangerine wrapping opaque Chestnut—softly hand sculpted and highly polished for an exquisite lustre.

His frame is based on the cross section of a calabash, a gourd often used as an instrument in Nigeria. Bold blinkered side shields in laminated Mellow and Fisherman acetates, with set back hinges and temples embellished with Yinka’s signature flower motifs.
