You have been gifted a Bespoke
To first timers or seasoned spectacle wearers; welcome to Cubitts.
You have been given something genuinely one of a kind, a pair of spectacles or sunglasses made just for you.
There is no starting silhouette, no reference size, no standard bridge or predefined temple. Instead there is a conversation, a blank page, and the quiet intention to make something that could not sensibly exist for anyone else. We will then refine it to your precise measurements and specifications, from fit to colour and finish.
To start, book a consultation below, or explore our shapes and colours first and decide what takes your eye.
How it works
Scan
Your journey begins with the facial scan. Our patent-pending system captures your face to sub-millimetre precision, creating that permanent “last” which we use to optimise both optical performance and comfort. It is quick, non-invasive, and gives us far more information than traditional measuring tools ever could. This is the difference between simply choosing a size, and having your frame engineered around you.
Select
With your measurements recorded, we move on to selection. For Made to Measure, you choose a Cubitts silhouette from our library of over 250 shapes, then decide on details such as lens size, bridge profile, temple style, and end tips. You choose your acetate or metal finish from our extended palette of more than 300 colours, and can add options such as alternative nose pads, sun lenses, or custom engraving.
Fit
We then re-engineer the frame’s dimensions to your proportions. The bridge is sculpted to sit precisely along the crest of your nose. The temples are angled to follow your head and ear position. The lens position is aligned with your pupils to maximise visual performance, rather than being dictated by a generic fit model. This is where the scan truly earns its keep. Our frame-fit guarantee means that if anything feels less than perfect, we will make adjustments, or even remake the frame, until it does.
Make
Your frame is then handmade to order through around thirty stages of production. The process combines traditional craft skills – cutting, filing, tumbling, hand polishing – with contemporary techniques such as CNC milling and precision drilling. Pins are set, hinges are riveted, edges are bevelled and smoothed, surfaces are brought up to a deep, tactile lustre. Throughout this stage we document the journey, sharing workshop updates so you can see your frame taking shape.
Glaze
Once the frame has passed inspection, it moves to glazing. Lenses are made to your prescription using ZEISS ClearView optics with advanced DuraVision coatings, enhancing clarity, durability, and ease of cleaning. We consider not only the prescription itself, but lens thickness, weight distribution, and how the lenses interact with the frame design. The result is a complete optical object, where lens and frame work together rather than being treated as separate components.
Finish
At the final stage, the frame is carefully cleaned, checked, and prepared for you. Any agreed custom engraving is added – perhaps your initials, a date, or a quietly hidden message. Your spectacles are then presented in a custom aluminium case, accompanied by an oversized microfibre cloth and refillable lens cleaner, ready to be part of your daily life rather than an object to be kept in a drawer.
