What types of eye exams do you offer?
We offer two types of eye examination - Routine and Advanced.
Routine examination
Our Routine examinations are available in all UK stores and our New York, West Village store. They cost £50/$125 and take between 30-40 minutes.
All our eye examinations include assessments of your:
-
Vision and any spectacle prescription you may require
-
Binocular vision, which determines how well your eyes work together as a pair
-
Internal and external ocular health, including retinal photographs
-
Peripheral vision
-
Internal eye pressure
Advanced eye examination
Our advanced eye exam is available in 8 of our UK stores and costs £75.
Our Advanced Eye Examination includes everything offered in a routine eye test, with the added benefit of OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography), a painless, non-invasive 3D scan that reveals all 10 layers of the retina. Unlike standard retinal photography, which captures only the surface, OCT allows us to detect potential sight-threatening conditions at an earlier stage.
We allow plenty of time to discuss your specific needs, whether it’s a strong prescription, varifocals, or existing eye conditions, and are happy to explain each test so you leave with a clear understanding of your eye health.
Our optometrists are not salespeople; they’re experts in eye health and will never try to sell you a pair of spectacles if you do not need them.
Who needs an OCT eye exam?
OCT eye exams are recommended for people aged 25 or over, who want to know more about their eye health. We also recommend OCT scans for those who have diabetes, glaucoma, or have family history of eye disease.
How can I book/amend/cancel an eye exam?
You can book an eye exam online here, or within our stores.
If you need to cancel or change your eye exam, contact our Customer Experience team letting us know the store you are booked with, and your name.
We don't charge for cancellations, but please give us 24 hours notice so that we can see other patients in your cancelled appointment time.
We appreciate your punctuality, but understand life can get in the way. If you’re running more than ten minutes late, we will need to reschedule your visit.
Do you offer contact lens consultations?
We don’t. We're all about spectacles. No contact lens consultations, no contact lenses, just beautiful frames.
Do you accept employee eye care vouchers?
At the moment, we don't offer any employee eye care vouchers.
Do you offer free eye exams?
As we're a private practice, we're not registered with the NHS and can't offer discounts for patients who qualify for free eye exams.
We do accept external prescriptions, so if you'd prefer to get your eyes tested elsewhere so you can make use of a free eye exam but still purchase frames from us, it's not a problem.
How long does an eye exam last?
Our exams are 30-40 minutes long, which gives our optometrists ample time to discuss any issues you may be having, as well as any needs that are particular to your situation, such as strong prescriptions, varifocals or ocular pathology. Our optometrists are also happy to walk you through the tests they are performing so that you have a good understanding of your eyes and their health when you leave.
What if I'm late to my eye exam?
We really appreciate your punctuality, but we get it - life happens! If you are running more than ten minutes late, we will need to reschedule your visit.
Why can't I use an out of date prescription?
The optometrist who carries out your eye exam will determine the expiry date based on your age and overall health. Normally you will be recommended to get a new test:
-
People aged 16-69 - at least once every two years
-
Over 70s - once a year. This is to monitor age-related eye conditions.
-
People with diabetes or glaucoma - at least once a year
-
Over 40s who are a close blood relative of someone with glaucoma - at least once a year
We can only make glasses using prescriptions that are still valid, and have not passed the expiry date. We do not use expired prescriptions, as we don’t believe this to be in your best interests. Even if you feel the vision hasn’t changed, a new eye test is important to establish your eyes are in good health.
Do you offer a discount on frames if purchased after my eye exam?
No, we don't offer discounts if you purchase frames after your eye examination.
The price of your spectacles includes the frame, lenses, and case - but also a range of services. You'll receive complimentary cleaning cloths by notable artists twice a year, a complimentary frame rehab service after a year to freshen up your specs, as well as a two year warranty.
Our frames are also designed so they can be repaired for life, and easily adjusted. We also offer a reglazing service (changing or updating your lenses) whenever needed.
