A New Chapter in the Art of Spectacle
A New Chapter in the Art of Spectacle
We’ve reimagined our packaging and accessories from first principles; an exploration into what it means to care for the things we own. Working with the industrial designer Daniel Weil, we set out to create a family of objects that share the same philosophy as our spectacles: functional, beautiful, and made to last.
Because we believe spectacles are not disposable products. They are enduring companions - repaired, serviced, and cherished over many years. And the objects that accompany them should embody that same spirit of longevity, ingenuity, and quiet delight.
The Box
Our new packaging is constructed from Cairn 100% recycled kraft board, silkscreened with the Cubitts wordmark in understated black. Its design is simple, modular, and purposeful: a lid that flips into a tray or stand, removable inserts that allow the box to live on long after its first use.
Every detail has been considered for circularity, from the choice of materials to the way the components slot together without glue. It’s packaging designed not to be discarded, but to be used, repurposed, and reimagined. A box that might one day hold stationery, keepsakes, or perhaps another pair of Cubitts spectacles.
The Case
Our protective aluminium case is the cornerstone of the new collection: ultra-lightweight, exceptionally strong, and inspired by the precision of mid-century industrial design, most notably the work of Reinhold Kühn.
Formed from 0.6mm 5052-grade sheet aluminium and finished with a clear anodised coating, it achieves a delicate balance of strength and subtlety. The interior is lined with soft charcoal microfibre, visible only as a fine edge along the opening. Details are intentionally concealed: a rolled nine-barrel hinge with a stainless-steel pin, a discreet neodymium magnetic catch, and press-formed ribs that double the stiffness while creating a sculptural surface profile.
It is both a functional object and a piece of quiet engineering, an everyday companion that protects its contents with the dignity they deserve.

The Lens Cleaner
Hidden within every box lies a small but significant companion: our refillable lens cleaner, designed to keep your spectacles, and your perspective, perfectly clear.
Housed in an amber glass bottle, it is both practical and sustainable, intended for refilling rather than replacement. The solution itself is formulated to gently remove smudges, dust, and the daily distractions that accumulate between you and the world.
The Cloth
Every pair of Cubitts spectacles is accompanied by a microfibre cloth; an everyday essential, elevated. Ours has been reimagined as an oversized version (240mm x 170mm), generous enough for even the largest of human hands to polish properly.
To honour this humble ritual, and discourage the habitual use of shirttails, we collaborate with contemporary artists and designers to create limited-edition cloths that reflect the intersection of art and optics.
Our latest edition features a work by the renowned Antony Gormley. While Gormley is celebrated for his monumental sculptures, his drawings are quieter meditations: studies of the human form suspended in space. MOON V depicts a solitary figure folded inward, immersed in darkness - a moment of introspection, stillness, and presence.
The cloth is also available to purchase separately, with all proceeds donated to CARA, an organisation that supports academics at risk around the world.
The Scroll
The Scroll is a sculptural resting place for your spectacles, or for whatever else you hold dear. Made from reconstituted leather, its dual-loop form gently cradles its contents, whether that’s a pair of frames, a mobile phone, or a scribbled note worth remembering.
It sits quietly beside your bed, desk, or favourite chair, a small monument to care and consideration. A daily reminder that even the most functional objects deserve repose.
On the Wing
On the Wing is a discreet leather loop that transforms any button into a spectacle holder - a safe perch for your frames when they are not upon your face. Made from supple vegetable-tanned leather, it offers a simple but elegant solution to a universal problem: where to place your spectacles in those in-between moments.
Barely visible yet always available, it allows your frames to rest securely without stretching necklines, bulging pockets, or risking the inevitable “left behind”. For those who take their spectacles off as thoughtfully as they put them on.
The REDUX Case
A single, continuous piece of Italian vegetable-tanned leather, cut with precision and stitched by hand in Britain. Its considered construction almost entirely eliminates material waste. Designed to protect your spectacles for years, and to be repaired, rather than replaced. It carries the quiet assurance of something made to last. Complimentary monogramming available upon request, if you’d like it to carry your mark.
The Tote
Our Cubitts Tote has been redesigned in soft 12oz BCI-certified cotton canvas, dyed in our custom colour A Preoccupation with Possessions, created by Simon March.
Practical and tactile, it features a gusseted base for structure, two oversized internal pockets for spectacles and daily essentials, and both long and short handles for versatile carrying. A companion for modern life - for the things you carry, and the ones you choose to leave behind.
